By activating the Recipes add-on for Hemp Sites you will find a new option under the Appearance & Content section in your admin dashboard. This option called Recipes is a new custom post type for you to publish your CBD and/or cannabis recipes under that is separate from your blog posts.
This new custom post type is available so that your Recipes can have a different single post and archive format than your blog posts, and also to add different categories that fit much better for a recipes post, including:
- Cuisines
- Ingredients
- Courses
- Skill Levels
Editing the Single Recipe Post and Recipe Archives #
To provide a unique page layout for your recipe archives (the page where all of your recipes are listed), you can follow the instructions for the Blog/Archives by clicking here. Instead of selecting Blog/Archive though, you will select Recipe Archive.
Just remember, you will need to create a page with the URL/permalink of “recipes” for your recipe archive to appear. This page would be https://mywebsite.com/recipes.
To provide a unique page layout for your recipe single post, you can follow the instructions for Single Post Settings by clicking or tapping here. Instead of selecting Single Post though, you will select Recipe Post.
Total Recipe Generator Block #
You can create awesome recipes and publish them on your website with the Total Recipe Generator! Total Recipe Generator is a block for creating online recipe content in a blog post or a recipe post.
With Total Recipe Generator, your online recipe content is organized in proper semantics and hierarchy. This improves your site’s presence in search results and personalized media platforms like Pinterest. The content generated by recipe posts is a mix of Schema micro data, internal links, JSON LD micro data, and required/recommended Meta tags for a “Recipe” content type.
Create a Recipe Post #
Navigate to your Cannabiz Site admin and either go to Posts > Add New if you would like to add your recipe into a blog post, or to Recipes > Add New if you would prefer to keep your recipes separate from your blog posts.
From here, you can start writing your blog post or recipe post. To add the Total Recipe Generator block, you have two options:
- Click on the Plus icon at the top left of your post edit screen to open the list of available blocks. Either search for Total Recipe Generator or scroll down the list until you find it.
- Find the block by typing / then keywords like recipe, food, recipe maker, total recipe generator, etc. to find the block
Next, click on the Total Recipe Generator block to add it your post.
The editing feature of Total Recipe Generator is divided into two areas — One is the “Content Controls” area, and another is the “Inspector Controls” area. The content controls are the ones which you see inside the editor part. Whereas the inspector controls are the ones shown in the sidebar panel.
Start modifying the recipe content inside the Controls Section by editing the recipe title, recipe image, prep time, cook time, recipe yield, etc. These are straightforward text input fields which shall not be a problem. In the next steps we will see how to add ingredients using a repeater field.
Adding Recipe Ingredients #
Scroll down the page and navigate to the “Ingredients” section. Click on the “Add Ingredients” button.
A repeater field row will be added. This row contains two fields — Ingredients Group Title, and Ingredients List.
Provide a title for your ingredients group. (This is optional, and you cak skip it too). Inside the ingredients list, provide a list of ingredients, each on a new line.
Repeat this process if you wish to add a separate ingredients group. Otherwise keep a single group and add all ingredients inside it.
Add Recipe Method #
In order to add a recipe method, click on the “Add Method” button. A repeater field row will be added.
Note: For each method step, add a new repeater field. (Unlike ingredients list, in which each ingredient is separated by a new line). In method list, each method shall be added by a new repeater field.
After adding all method steps, you can proceed ahead and start adding nutrition values in the available fields.
Using Controls on Sidebar #
There are several settings field available inside the inspector controls sidebar. You can choose recipe template, heading colors, show/hide various elements and many more. These are subjective choices and depend upon your website’s style and requirement. You can play with these settings as required.
Global Settings #
This tool comes with Global settings that can be found under Settings > Total Recipe Generator.
The settings page has different tab sections, as described below:
General: This section contains settings for the recipe preview in editor, and the global advertisements placed in recipe posts. If the ads are placed in these settings, they will apply globally to all recipe posts. You can override these settings inside individul recipe post using TRG Element settings.
Display: Using this section, you can globally change colors for elements in all recipe posts. Individual posts can override these color settings.
Social: Using this section, you can globally specify social sharing links for all posts. Individual posts can override these color settings.
