Why Default WordPress Email Settings Don’t Work #
By default, WordPress uses the PHP Mail to send emails like form notifications, user activation, lost password, and others.
Unfortunately, WordPress is notorious for email delivery issues. Commonly, these issues arise because your WordPress hosting server is not properly configured to use the PHP Mail function. At Hemp Sites, our virtual private server has default PHP email sending completely turned off!
How SMTP Settings Help Fix WordPress Emails #
SMTP stands for Simple Mail Transfer Protocol. It’s one of the most reliable ways to send emails on the internet.
With SMTP, you get high deliverability rates, avoid the spam folder, and your emails reach recipients almost instantly.
So, to fix email issues on your WordPress site, you need to replace PHP Mail with SMTP.
At Hemp Sites, all of our emails are sent using SMTP and a professional email sending service called SendInBlue to send all of the default emails from no-reply@Hemp Sites.com. By default, your Cannabiz Site will have all of the default emails sent from that same email address, and you are more than free to keep it that way!
However, if you do want to send the default emails from your own email address, especially if you are running an eCommerce store, you have full freedom to make those changes using the Fluent SMTP plugin. This plugin allows you to easily connect your website to one of the following email services:
- Amazon SES
- Gmail and Google WorkSpace
- SendInBlue
- Mailgun
- Sendgrid
- Sparkpost
- Outlook
- and a few more!
